Leadership Team
Sue Hornby MBE, Headteacher
Sue co-founded the Bridge in 2007 and has been at the heart of shaping its development and direction.
​
Sue’s background is in Higher Education Administration and Management and she is an experienced teacher and manager. Sue is the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the whole school. As Headteacher she is responsible for the quality of teaching and learning and the school’s impact on pupil’s progression and development; health and safety, staff recruitment and development.

​Neil Hornby, Chief Executive Officer
It was Neil’s initial vision for an education accessible to children with SEN and anxiety that saw the establishment of Bridge School Malvern as an alternative provider back in 2007. Neil’s excellent entrepreneurial and business skills has ensured the school's ongoing financial security.
​
Neil has over 30 years’ experience of working in a variety of secondary educational establishments. Neil has a Master’s Degree in Special Educational Needs and is an experienced qualified teacher and manager.
​
As Chief Executive Officer Neil is responsible for the financial management of the school, site development and the wellbeing and success of the whole staff body.

Simon Rowe, Deputy Headteacher
Simon joined Bridge School Malvern in April 2024. He is an experienced Educational Psychologist with over 20 years of working both independently and for Local Authorities. He is an experienced qualified teacher and cognitive behavioural therapist working with children and young people. Simon is the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead for the whole school.

As Deputy Headteacher, Simon is responsible for staff and pupil welfare, tracking pupil progression across the wider curriculum and developing a parental co production strategy for the school. Simon continues to teach at the Bridge, specialising in green woodturning and mentoring.
Clare Stanton, Pastoral Manager
Clare has worked for the Bridge since 2007 and has been instrumental in developing the school’s behaviour management and pastoral care strategy.
Clare’s background is in supporting families of children with special needs. She is a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead for Hanley site. As Pastoral Manager, she is responsible for pupil progress in PSHE, RSE and interventions. She also helps manage aspects of the quality of teaching and learning, health and safety, staff recruitment and development.
Vicky Gundersen, Head of Sixth Form
Vicky has worked for the Bridge Sixth Form since it’s inception in 2018 and has been at the heart of shaping its development and direction.
Vicky has twenty years experience in careers support and guidance for young people with a wide range of special needs. She is a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead for the Sixth Form. As Head of Sixth Form, she is responsible for student progression, aspects of the quality of teaching and learning, staff recruitment and development and working with the local authority and parents to ensure the best outcomes for students.
